Avoid the craziness of ACL Fest and come join us for a Family Fun Fest!

If you’ve lived in Austin during ACL you know that you must avoid downtown at all cost.  That doesn’t mean that you have to be trapped in your home for the weekend.  Come join us at a really fun park away from the madness of downtown and celebrate moms and babies with lots of fun activities and tables featuring our favorite local resources.

This FREE event is for *any* families who want to support & normalize breastfeeding!

Roy Guerrero Park is large and your GPS may have difficulty finding the playground.
The coordinates are 30.243606,-97.697210.
On Google Maps and Waze, this is 6200 Grove Boulevard. (Do not put the park name into Google Maps, it will not get you to the playground.)
On other apps, you may want to use the coordinates, or use 400 Grove Blvd & follow the signs to the playscape.

Join Central Texas Breastfeeding Coalition and Mothers’ Milk Bank at Austin for the annual Quintessence Breastfeeding Challenge.  Help break Austin’s record for the most breastfeeding moms all breastfeeding together. Latch On time for the breastfeeding challenge will be promptly at 11AM, registration begins at 10AM.

The Quintessence Breastfeeding Challenge is an event to determine which geographic area (province, state or territory) has the most breastfeeding babies, as a percentage of the birthrate, “latched on” at 11am local time.

Big Latch On @ Baby Earth

Mark your calendars!

BabyEarth RoundRock is hosting a Big Latch On, Saturday August 6th. During the first week of August (National Breast Feeding Month) people show support for breastfeeding and families by coming together and “Latching On” at the same time.

In 2015 there were 654 locations across the globe and over 36,502 people came to registered Big Latch On events to build community.

Come be part of this world record!

We will also have an excellent guest speaker and great prizes!

What is the Big Latch On?

Groups of breastfeeding women coming together at registered locations around the world to all latch on their child at a set time. All the breastfeeding women and children are latched on for one minute at the set time and are counted by the witnesses. The numbers are added up and we see if we can beat previous Big Latch On records!

The Big Latch On supports communities with identifying and growing opportunities to provide ongoing breastfeeding support and promotion.

The key to the Big Latch On’s success is allowing communities to hold their Big Latch On events, empowering them to create an event that relates to the people of their community, while still taking part in a worldwide event.

While Big Latch On provides the concept, key resources and overarching co-ordination, communities hold their own Big Latch On events. One of the biggest delights of co-ordinating the Big Latch On each year is the feedback we get about the amazing diversity of ways in which the Big Latch On is celebrated and the follow on activities such as friendships formed and breastfeeding support groups established.

Global Big Latch On

Aims of the Big Latch On

  • Support for communities to identify and grow opportunities to provide ongoing breastfeeding support and promotion.
  • Raise awareness of breastfeeding support and knowledge available in communities.
  • Help communities positively support breastfeeding in public places.
  • Make breastfeeding a normal part of the day-to-day life at a local community level.
  • Increase support for women who breastfeed – women are supported by their partners, family and the breastfeeding knowledge that is embedded in their communities.
  • Communities have the resources to advocate for coordinated appropriate and accessible breastfeeding support services.

Thanks mamas for joining us in the park for the quintessence challenge!  We had a total of 30 moms nursing their beautiful babies.  That includes 1 set of twins:)  While this isn’t the biggest turnout we’ve had it was great to see you all there.  Pictures will be posted soon.

We would love your feedback on how we can make this event bigger and better next year.  San Antonio beat us with 65.  Way to go SA

Attention all Breastfeeding Mothers and Supporters.

Come join us at the farmers market and try to beat our own record of the most moms and babies together in one place breastfeeding at the same time.

Where: Downtown farmers market.  4th and Guadalupe

when: sign in starts at 10:00am,  Latch on and head count at 11:00am.

Come early to get some tasty local veggies and learn about community resources and HMHB, stay to support breastfeeding mothers in public places.

Our numbers will be sent to the quintessence challenge and Austin will be counted with others across the globe.  This is a great event that we participate in each year to help raise awareness about the benefits of breastfeeding and lends very well to the sustainable foods mission of the local farmers market here in Austin.

See you there.
